Hey friends, I hope you had a great Easter weekend!
I really enjoyed being with Derek and Jason on their Rethinking God with Tacos Podcast recently. You should check it out.
Books I just finished or am currently reading include…
-The highly anticipated new book from Thomas Jay Oord called The Death of Omnipotence and the Birth of Amipotence. For religion to evolve to the next stage for humanity, I think it’ll have to give up the traditional view of omnipotence. As Tom unpacks in his book, omnipotence is not in the bible, it’s not something what can speak of in a philosophical sense, and it’s not something that stands up under the problem of evil. I hope you read this book.
-Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed. Strayed doesn’t necessarily believe in God and probably uses the f-word more than I do :), but given her writing acumen and unique insight into human behavior, it’s no surprise this blend of memoir and self-help advice column has become so popular.
Btw, I’ll be hosting Brew Theology Monday, April 17 at Transport Brewery with the good Dr. Johan Tredoux. If you’re in the KC area, come join us.
